Brilliant Dress Design Books

Anyone out there who have an interest in dress making and are keen to make some more unusual clothes? Well I have the perfect books for you.

For Christmas I received two fantastic design books by Japanese dressmaker Tomoko Nakamichi. Her books are entitled Pattern Magic and Pattern Magic 2. They are amazing books and are available in stores and online. They are a must have for anyone who wants to expand their dressmaking skills.

Enjoy.

Alternate Business Card Ideas

Here are the four alternate business card designs I have been working on. All four are presented here in Landscape layout but I have also created Portrait versions as well. When I decide which is the best design I will print copies in both Landscape and Portrait layouts.

Feedback on which is the best design would be appreciated.

Cheers Then.

Inspiring Textile Artists

Hello again! As I'm planning to make some small quilted samples I took a look on the Texile Blog site for a little inspiration and came across some wonderful textile artists who show exactly what you can achieve working with textiles and the quilting medium.

By far my favourites were Peggy Brown, Carol Taylor, Pat Dolan and Tricia Coulson.

Their website addresses are www.peggybrownart.com, www.pat-dolan.com, www.triciacoulson.com, www.caroltaylorquilts.com.

Take a look as I'm sure you'll be impressed by their work. I certainly was and am feeling very inspired.

Hello again and Happy 2012!

After a period of ill health I'm finally getting back to some design work.

I'm currently working on creating a series of abstract paintings which are inspired by the flowers in my garden. I'm working on these paintings as colour exercises, working with different tones of specific colours (browns, greens, purples, reds etc) in varying combinations.

I'm also looking at getting some work together for sale via a Website I'm hoping to set up in the near future. I'm planning to use a different logo and brand name for this work than the one I plan to use once I complete my degree. Due to this, I have been re-working a logo and brand name I'd initally considered as the professional one I would use after university.

So sometime soon I'll post the re-worked business card and some other work, including at least 1 abstract painting. Promise!!

So Happy New Year and thanks again for checking out my blog.

Cheers Then.
